We designed and made Halloween costumes in room 17 for our
school’s Green Halloween Fashion Show. We made our costumes entirely out of
recyclable materials. The first step was to sketch out our designs and to plan what materials we would use. Then we got
busy creating our designs. We got to model our designs and to see what costumes other classes had
created at the fashion show.

"Freastalaí! Freastalaí! Tá cuileog i m'anraith!"
We have been enjoying learning about the topic Bia (Food) in Irish. We've been combining Gaeilge and Drama by composing role plays to take place in our classroom Bialann (Restaurant). Some of our role plays were hilarious, our freastalaí (waiters) had to deal with a serious amount of problems.

Reading in Room 17
We've been reading the novel "The Butterfly Lion", by Michael Morpurgo. We love Michael Morpurgo and "The Butterfly Lion" is a great book. We've been enjoying reading the chapters and doing lots of vocabulary work, chapter studies, summaries, letters as characters from the story, diary entries and character analyses.
Listen to an excerpt from the novel here: http://michaelmorpurgo.com/books/205
We have also been enjoying some paired reading over the last few weeks. We are reading non-fiction texts in pairs and are doing great work on any unknown vocabulary. Non fiction books have a lot of new words for us to work on, particularly the science books.
